I'm going to chronicle the effort that goes into campaigning a bike in club racing. I'm currently a "mid-pack" racer looking to move up to become a "front-pack" racer. My goal is to apply myself this year and give myself the skills, experience, and hardware that it will require. I'm doing this mostly as a diary so that I'll have something to look back on at the end of the year. I hope that some of my friends who are getting more serious about their track riding and who are considering racing can learn something from my experiences, as well. If you ever have any questions, feel free to drop me a line at tigre _at_ tigerbike (dot_. com Cheers, Steve Owner and Rider - Tigerbike Racing

February 4, 2006 - Pre-season update
By tigre on Saturday, February 04, 2006

The bike came back from the re-dyno.  Don Lemelin at Scuderia West did a great job.

The dip in power at the bottom of the powerband is gone, and the flat spot from 7-8k rpms is improved.  I'm looking forward to trying it out!  I'll post scans of the dyno results soon.   (See tech specs section for more details)

I logged a lot more time on the bodywork, but it's slow going.  Grrrr....

I ordered the Marchesinis yesterday from a company on the east coast called Hard Racing.  A few weeks back they told me they had a couple sets in stock and it would take only a couple days from when I placed ...

I called the US distributor for Marvic again.  Still no pricing.  I intend to pull the trigger and order up the Marchesini rims next week.  As much as I'd like to be the only kid on my block with the Marvics, I really value being prepared for the season early and just showing up to race.

In better news, Nichols Manufacturing in Milpitas got my flywheel installed and fixed the leak in my water pump.  Flywheel first: the stock flywheel weighs 4lbs 15 1/8 oz.  The Nichols flywheel weighs 9 7/8 oz.  That's a weight savings of 4 lbs ...
